What we believe
We believe...
- There exists and reigns one, true Living God
- God is One Being, but Three Persons – Father, Son & Holy Spirit
- Jesus was both fully God and fully man
- The Bible is God's inspired Word to man and thus our final authority for everything we believe and practice
- Salvation comes through Jesus' death on the cross, a substitutionary atonement for the sin of all mankind
- Every individual must repent and believe in Jesus to be saved
- Salvation is found in no other name or way than Jesus
We recognize that there are different levels of doctrine.
1. Core Doctrines, on which all true Christians (the universal church) must and do agree, such as the 7 statements above.
2. Major Doctrines, on which Christians in any one church will normally agree, while recognizing those in other churches may differ (e.g. water baptism, church government, baptism and gifts of the Spirit).
3. Minor Doctrines &nash; various other matters on which even Christians in the same church can healthily but humbly hold different views.
Something similar holds true for Christian ethics. For example, we believe Scripture binds all true Christians and churches to the belief that "sex is for marriage is for one man, one woman, for life only". The bible makes this clear. But on other more disputable matters, we can disagree.
