Meet the Elders
Nigel & Melita

Originally from South Africa, Nigel and Melita moved to London in October 1995 where they planted and led London Church International for over a decade before moving up to Liverpool in summer 2008. They serve on the translocal ministry team which involves ministry trips to relating churches both in the UK and across the continent.
Despite footballing allegiance to Spurs, one of Nigel's first tasks on arrival was to secure himself a pair of red LFC trainers, which he has worn proudly ever since. A self confessed 'technophobe', he is more at home listening to classical music or out visiting Britain's grand country houses and gardens. Melita enjoys photography and considers Britain to be without a doubt her favourite holiday destination, although her dream holiday would involve snorkelling on a coral reef.
Both are known for their fondness of tea rooms.
If inviting Nigel round for tea... don't serve Chinese food!
Tony and Joy

Tony and Joy were amongst two Liverpudlian couples brought onto eldership in summer 2010. They have been part of the church since early 2008, along with their two sons, Thomas and Daniel, and currently lead a midweek homegroup.
Tony enjoys his sport and is the big football fan amongst the elders, regularly attending matches at Anfield. With a typically quick scouse wit, puns and one liners are never in short supply. He has a dislike of cheats, both on and off the pitch, and the insurance industry. Joy's favourite ways to relax include watching romantic comedies or enjoying a meal with friends, finished off with a homemade bread and butter pudding - Joy's favourite dessert!
When talking football to Tony, don't mention... Man United's 19 league titles!
Vince & Barbie

Vince and Barbie moved to Liverpool from South Africa in 1999. They are both keen travellers and for Barbie, Liverpool is the tenth city in which she has lived. Their first two-and-a-half years of marriage were spent at sea due to Vince's job working as a ship's officer, and they have two daughters.
Barbie is the church secretary at Gateway, and loves holidays involving lots of sand, sea and sun. Vince enjoys his art, in particular oil paintings of people, land and seacapes, and doesn't miss an opportunity to watch cricket or rugby union!
The best place to go out for a meal... anywhere serving a great steak.
Rob and Brenda

Grandparents to five grand-daughters, Rob and Brenda have been at Gateway since 2000, and are both part of the preaching team. Liverpool born and bred, they were brought onto eldership in 2010 and also lead one of Gateway's six homegroups.
Affectionately known to some in the church as Grandma, Brenda is a big fan of playing games, and loves cryptic crosswords. Recently retired Rob can often be found combining two of his favourite hobbies - steam locomotives and photography, and he also enjoys walking and cooking, but will never be seen watching soaps on TV!
Rob's work nickname... 'Scrapper'
